Another new Japanese restaurant opened in the Brentwood Lougheed area, this time is Yugo Roll and Bowl inside the new Tables food court at the Amazing Brentwood, I guess there really aren’t enough sushi restaurants in Burnaby. One look at their sushi menu and your mouth will start watering. The selection has a variety of choices from aburi oshi sushi, sushi rolls and of course rice bowls.

WHAT I ATE

Salmon Ikura Bowl $16

The rice bowls seemed like a healthier option so I went with this instead of the flame seared sushi, at first glance the presentation looks clean and appealing. The bowl comes with slices of raw salmon, ikura (plump orbs of salmon roe), slices of avocado on a bed of white rice. If the flavor is too light for your taste you can drizzle soy sauce over the ingredients. Avocados were kept fresh without any browning, the salmon roe was very juicy as you can imagine a mouthful of them popping inside your mouth. It’s a fresh and healthy meal when you want to keep your calories low for the day!

Brentwood Special Roll $9

This is their starter sushi roll, inside it comes with raw salmon, spicy tempura, crab stick, cucumber, avocado, and tobiko. The combination of ingredients are good but it only comes with 5 pcs so it won’t make you full.

Final Thoughts

First let’s talk about their rice bowls, in my opinion the prices were too high for what you get with them, the salmon slices were way too thin. I’d rather get a full of order of sashimi at a sushi restaurant. There are a lot of competition between sushi restaurants in Burnaby, Overall the taste of their food is fine, I would recommend sticking to ordering the sushi rolls or the flame seared sushi.
